How to convert Octal to Decimal
Multiply each octal digit by the corresponding power of 8 and sum.
d = o_{n}×8^{n} + ... + o_1×8^1 + o_0×8^0
Multiply each digit by its power of 8:
17₈ = 1×8 + 7×1 = 8 + 7 = 15₁₀
Example
Convert 17₈ to decimal:
1×8¹ + 7×8⁰ = 8 + 7 = 15
