Convert each octal digit to a 3-bit binary group.
Each octal digit → 3 binary bits
Replace each octal digit with its 3-bit binary equivalent:
1₈ = 001₂, 7₈ = 111₂, so 17₈ = 001111₂ = 1111₂
Example
Convert 17₈ to binary:
