What is the Metric System?

The metric system (officially the International System of Units, or SI) is a decimal-based system of measurement used by most countries worldwide. It uses base units such as the meter (length), kilogram (mass), liter (volume), and degree Celsius (temperature), with prefixes like milli-, centi-, and kilo- to express multiples and fractions.

The United States, Liberia, and Myanmar are the only countries that have not officially adopted the metric system as their primary system of measurement, using imperial units instead.
