Liters to Moles Calculator
Convert a volume of gas in liters to an amount in moles, assuming an ideal gas at standard temperature and pressure (STP). The molar volume of an ideal gas at STP is 22.414 liters per mole. You can change the molar volume to match other conditions.

Molar Volume at STP
At standard temperature and pressure (0 °C and 1 atm) one mole of an ideal gas occupies 22.414 liters. This is the molar volume.
Divide the gas volume by the molar volume to get moles; multiply moles by the molar volume to get the volume. This relationship only holds for gases, not liquids or solids.
Formula
moles = volume (L) ÷ 22.414 (L/mol)
Example: Convert 11.2 L of gas at STP to moles:
11.2 ÷ 22.414 = 0.5 mol
